Overview

Formerly RSA Archer and owned by Cinven since 2023, Archer is an integrated risk management platform covering enterprise risk, compliance, audit, third-party governance and regulatory change management. It was founded in 2000 and is based in Overland Park. SOC 2 is one of many frameworks it can host rather than the product's organizing purpose, which shapes how buyers should evaluate it.

Archer is software only. It includes an internal audit management module, but it does not deliver an external SOC 2 audit, so a CPA firm is still required. Implementation typically involves partners or professional services in addition to CSM-led enterprise support, and there is no expert guidance service for SOC 2 readiness. The emphasis is on configurable modules, including ERM, IT and security risk, audit, third-party governance and ESG, that large organizations assemble around their own processes.

Its distinctive feature is Archer Evolv, an AI regulatory change capability that monitors 7,000 to 8,000+ regulatory sources and extracts obligations. The listed frameworks include SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS, NIST CSF, NIST 800-53 and DORA, and the platform lists about 200 integrations. Policy templates and vendor risk features are included, but a Trust Center is not. The vendor says its install base is weighted toward financial services. Pricing is quote-based per use case or module; third-party estimates compiled by SmartSuite range from about $14K per year for one or two use cases to $55K+ for a basic suite, with implementation often extra.

Large enterprises, especially regulated financial institutions that need SOC 2 managed inside a broader risk and regulatory program, are the realistic audience. Smaller companies seeking a first report will likely find it heavier than necessary. Its G2 rating of 3.6 from 20 reviews is lower than many peers and worth probing. Ask about implementation timelines and services costs, and how much SOC 2 content comes preconfigured versus built during deployment.
